Drama on the streets: Two accidents in the Anklam area cause injuries!

On Monday afternoon, two traffic accidents in the Anklam area caused significant traffic disruption. How nordkurier.de reported that the B199 in Görke was closed for several hours due to an accident.

A driver left the road around 1:30 p.m. and hit both a town entrance sign and a milestone. The car then rolled over and came to rest on its roof. First responders were quickly on the scene and were able to free the injured driver from the vehicle. He was immediately taken to the hospital in Anklam for an examination. The Postlow fire department secured the scene of the accident until the car was recovered by a towing service.

But that's not all: around an hour later, around 2:50 p.m., a second accident occurred on the B109 between Anklam and Neu Kosenow. A 59-year-old van driver ignored an overtaking ban and overlooked an oncoming VW Multivan that was towing a caravan. The 55-year-old driver of the Multivan was no longer able to avoid a collision. The two drivers and the 54-year-old passenger of the Multivan were slightly injured in the collision and also had to be taken to the hospital in Anklam, where they were treated as outpatients. The Anklam fire department was also deployed here to bind up any leaked fuel. The property damage is estimated by the police at around 35,000 euros. The B109 had to be temporarily closed while the accident was being recorded, but was later reopened.

Traffic accidents in Germany

The frequent accidents on German roads should not be underestimated. As the statistics shows, the recording of such incidents serves as a basis for measures in legislation and road safety work. The aim of road traffic accident statistics is to obtain comprehensive and reliable data on the road safety situation. There are also initial analyzes of the types of accidents, people involved and vehicle types.

The importance of such statistics becomes clear when one considers that they serve as a basis for government transport policy, particularly in the areas of infrastructure and road safety policy. The connection between accidents and various risk factors is crucial for prevention.

We appeal to all road users to be careful and respect traffic rules so that such incidents can be avoided. Further information on transport safety can be found on the Eurostat page.
