Jarmen celebrates the opening of the best BMX skate park in MV!

On October 3, 2025, a real highlight for all skate and BMX fans will open in Jarmen: The brand new BMX skate park will celebrate its inauguration as part of the 35th anniversary of German unity. During these celebrations from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., a lot of savings will be made on the new facility, which is located next to the soccer field. Jan “Monchi” Gorkow, the frontman of the band “Feinecreme Fischfilet”, worked passionately as a project initiator to realize the park and collected tens of thousands of euros through fundraising campaigns.

The anticipation of the opening is palpable, because the facility will be designed not only with quality, but also with style. Professional sprayers are invited to beautify the course with their works of art. Daniel Jahnke, the state trainer for BMX freestyle, took over the planning and implementation and lists the course as the best facility in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Visitors can also look forward to a variety of activities: BMX squads will be on site to test the new course and give instructions. Full equipment is available for the test rides, including helmets, bicycles, scooters and skateboards.

A festival for all ages

The catering on this day is lovingly provided by the local football club, of course including a delicious barbecue. In addition to the sporting program, guests can also expect a colorful dance performance and musical entertainment by a DJ. If you want, you can even have souvenir photos taken to capture this special day.

The idea of building a skate park in Jarmen has an exciting history. A location at the port exit was originally planned, but this turned out to be unfavorable due to high legal hurdles and cost estimates. Mayor André Werner explained that a feasibility study for the area at the Bollwerk was still pending and that the joint decision was made on alternative locations. The rear area at Schützenplatz and the green areas on the western edge of the town are currently being discussed as possible options. Werner sees the project as a personal matter close to his heart and is committed to its successful implementation.

A look into the future

Financial planning is also an important part of the skate park project. An initial cost estimate for planning and materials is around 60,000 euros. The donations to date amount to over 24,000 euros, including through the collection from the Jarmen-Tutow parish. Future fundraisers, such as the planned Children's Day fundraiser, will certainly raise additional funds. The landscape of skate parks in Germany will continue to change in 2025 through a program that plans to build 40 to 50 new skate parks. This could also have an impact on the availability and quality of outdoor facilities in our region.

The BMX skate park in Jarmen is not only a step in the right direction for local sports culture, but also a symbol of community engagement and support for young talent. The opening on October 3rd promises to be an unforgettable event that will attract both local residents and many guests.
