Movie night in Strasburg: Wonderful” about the feeling of being beautiful!

On Friday, June 27th, it's that time again: The Altes Gemeindehaus Strasburg support group invites you to an exciting cinema evening. From 7 p.m., the film “Wunderschön” will be shown in the cozy ambience of the Old Community Center, Pfarrstrasse 22b. The drama by Karoline Herfurth, which was released in cinemas in 2022, is not only an entertaining film, but also deals with deep themes.

“Wonderful” tells the stories of different women who are confronted with very different challenges in their search for the feeling of being (wonderfully) beautiful. Viewers can look forward to a first-class acting ensemble, including Karoline Herfurth, Nora Tschirner and Martina Gedeck, who authentically embody the struggles and hopes of their characters. The film's themes touch on aging, body image and society's expectations, which are often linked to stereotypes. A portrait illuminates the lives of women who have to face the influences of family, partners and social norms, according to IMDB.

An evening for women

Especially in today's world, when the topic of female self-determination is increasingly coming to the fore, “Wonderful” is a cinematic invitation to question your own perspective. The cinema evening in Strasburg will not only be an entertaining event, but also an important impulse to deal with the challenges that women face. Among other things, the dramatic but also comedic facets of life that each woman experienced in her own way can be seen on the screen.

The evening is not only an opportunity to enjoy a great film, but also to exchange ideas with others about the themes that shape the film. “Beautiful” encourages you to be open to the messages the film conveys and could start many a conversation among viewers.

Film accompanying programs on ZDF

A look outside the box shows that the topic of women's roles in the media landscape is currently receiving a lot of attention. The documentary “The School of Women”, which will be shown on October 25, 2024 in the ZDFmediathek, will also focus on the life stories of five women who have found their way through the male-dominated cultural scene. In their situations, these women face similar challenges to those featured in the film “Beautiful” as they seek their own visibility ZDF reported.

In addition, the documentary “Sisterqueens” follows, which documents the development of three young girls in Berlin over four years. Here too, the focus is on self-determination and dealing with sexism. The importance of women – and in this case girls – making their voices heard is impressively demonstrated in both productions.

The cinema evening in Strasburg on June 27th is not only a cinematic experience, but also an opportunity to deal with current social issues and enter into a dialogue about the challenges facing women today. Be there when it says: “Wonderful” in the Old Community Hall!
