Cycle path in Pasewalk: gap closure ensures more safety and comfort!
Pasewalk, Deutschland - An important step to improve the cycling infrastructure is taken in Pasewalk, where the Neustrelitz road construction office is planning to close the gap of an important bike path. From Monday, June 16, the work on an almost 270 -meter -long section will begin, which will connect the federal road 104 near Strasburg with the bike path towards Anklam. This measure should not only increase the safety of the cyclists, but also significantly reduce the detour via Anklamer Straße. The investment of around 246,000 euros is a project of the Federal Republic of Germany, which is carried out by the company Eurovia Verkehrbau from Neubrandenburg. The completion of the project is sought for the end of August 2025.
The preparatory work includes removing lighting masts and the reconstruction of cables. After that, earthworks, the installation of the asphalt attachment and the work on ancillary facilities are on the plan. For example, a bicycle light is installed in the area of Bahnhofstrasse to enable the cyclist: inside a safe crossing of the road. No major traffic restrictions can be expected during the construction period, only partial closures in the intersection could be required.
bicycle traffic safety in the focus
The need for such a measure is underlined by the challenges of traffic safety from cycling. A current example from Hamm shows that the number of accidents in district walks, especially in cases in which cyclists are involved, are worryingly high. A study of accident research by insurers (UDV) from 2012 has found that accidents with bicycle participation in district walks are more than twice as common as at traffic lights. Similar problems could also occur in Pasewalk if the infrastructure is not expanded accordingly.
Despite the planned conversions that are supposed to promote cycling, it is important that cyclists feel safe and comfortable. Hamm has already discussed how the design of circle warrants can be optimized to ensure more security. Experts speak recommendations, such as avoiding circular reversals with smaller diameters and the structural design of district islands for reduction in speed. In Pasewalk, too, the creation of a clear and safe traffic routing for cyclists is of the highest priority.
The local population, especially the cyclists: inside, can look forward to the upcoming changes. With a well -developed bike path, the city will not only gain attractiveness, but also make a contribution to more sustainable traffic. Figures such as the accidents in other cities should remind us to vigilance so that Pasewalk can act as a pioneer in terms of cycling safety.
