Tractor theft in Hartmannsdorf: loss of 64,000 euros!
On Wednesday night, the community of Hartmannsdorf was shaken by a brazen tractor theft. Unknown perpetrators broke into a company premises on Mühlauer Straße and stole a tractor worth a whopping 64,000 euros. As Tixio reports, the incident happened between Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning when the perpetrators damaged a fence to gain access.
The stolen tractor, an AXOS 240 model, was only registered in 2024. The Chemnitz Police Department has already initiated investigations into particularly serious theft. However, so far there is no information about the perpetrators or where the vehicle might currently be. The police are therefore asking all citizens who may have seen something or who can provide information about the crime to come forward.
Theft hits farmers particularly hard
Concerns about the security of farm property are not new. There are repeated reports of thefts, which place a heavy burden on farmers. According to a current study published on Agrarheute, many farmers do not trust police investigations, which is why they do not report all thefts. The reasons for this are often the low chances of success, the effort involved in filing a report or the fact that the damage is often not covered by insurance.
After all, over 60% of those surveyed in the study would like to see more police presence through random patrols and tougher action against thefts. This shows how seriously the problem is taken and how much farmers are looking for a solution to their concerns.
Whether the stolen tractor will be found in Hartmannsdorf remains to be seen and may require the help of the public. While the police investigation is ongoing, the feeling of uncertainty remains among many farmers. A feeling that can hopefully soon be changed through greater security and trust in the investigative work.
