The Peene Bridge in Wolgast will be closed for extensive maintenance work from Monday, November 3, 2025. These measures are necessary to ensure the safety and functionality of the important transport connection. Uckermark courier reports that the focus of the work is on replacing 7,000 liters of hydraulic oil and replacing hose lines and components.
The period of work extends until November 14, 2025. During the first week, from November 3rd to 9th, traffic will be routed across the bridge in a single lane using traffic lights. On the night of November 6th to 7th and November 7th to 8th there will also be full night closures that are necessary to open the bridge hatch. This happens between 10:30 p.m. and 4:30 a.m. and 11:30 p.m. and 4:30 a.m.
Traffic control and diversions
There are also restrictions for pedestrians and cyclists: Crossing the bridge will be more difficult during the single-lane traffic flow from November 3rd to 9th. On the nights of full closures, crossing is even temporarily made impossible. However, passage remains possible at any time for ships that do not require the bridge to be opened. However, larger ships cannot pass in the first phase from November 3rd to 9th. Bridge openings will take place from November 10th depending on the progress of the work.
The diversion for vehicle traffic will take place via the Zecheriner Bridge (B 110) during the full closures. There will also be changes to rail traffic: some connections on the RB 23, especially the trains on the nights of full closures, will be canceled. A replacement rail service has been set up for the affected journeys, and all other trains are running as scheduled.
