GREENS in Zülpich: Strong team and clear vision for the local elections!

Preparations for the local elections on September 14, 2025 in Zülpich are in full swing. The Zülpich GREENS nominated their election candidates yesterday and are proudly presenting their 24-page election program. Local association chairwoman Angela Kalnins reports a pleasing increase in members, which has made it easier to effectively fill the electoral districts. The Zülpich GREENS focus on local and environmental issues and also support the SPD mayoral candidate Isabella Meurer.

As part of the nomination, Angela Kalnins is at the top of the reserve list, followed by Bernd Schierbaum and Angelika König. From fourth place onwards, new faces such as Harry Wehner, Jennifer Jülich, Jenna Beulen and Thomas Peters, who only joined the GREENS in 2024, will appear. The broad base of candidates underlines the party's commitment and reflects the diversity of the Zülpich community.

Diverse topics in the election program

All households in Zülpich will be supplied with the election program, which not only covers current concerns but also long-term visions. The GREENS' central demands include, among other things, the creation of a pedestrian zone on Münsterstrasse as well as the strengthening of the village centers and the introduction of a 30 km/h speed limit on inner-city streets. These measures are intended not only to increase the quality of life of citizens, but also to contribute to nature conservation in the Börde landscape.

Bernd Schierbaum has already emphasized the importance of a strong educational landscape and points out that staffing in the city's daycare centers should be increased. This is crucial in order to ensure the basic supply of kindergarten places and thus to offer strong support to the families in Zülpich.
