NDR improves DAB+ reception: New hope for northern Germany by 2026!
An exciting development for the radio landscape in northern Germany and beyond: Norddeutsche Rundfunk (NDR) has big plans to expand its DAB+ transmitter network by 2026. This measure not only benefits the sole rulers of the waves, but above all the listeners, who can look forward to clearer reception. How digitaltelevision.de reported, the expansion will take place in several regions, provided that the necessary approval procedures go as desired.
In spring 2026 there will be a particularly pleasing update for the islands of Borkum and Fehmarn, where the reception quality will be improved. The city of Mirow in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is also on the list of lucky ones and will benefit from the expanded DAB+ network. These measures include, among other things, the construction of a new transmission system in Sternberg in the summer months of 2026, which is intended to provide better coverage, especially to parts of the Ludwigslust-Parchim district.
Regional focus on reception quality
And not only that - Melle in Lower Saxony, the largest city in the Osnabrück district with around 46,500 inhabitants, will also benefit from improved reception. Particular attention is also being paid to the Osterode-Gittelde and Sieber regions in the Harz Mountains, where planned filling stations are intended to overcome the topographical challenges of these areas.
But that's not all: minor adjustments to the broadcasting network are already planned for 2027. This suggests that the network expansion could be largely completed in 2026. The anticipation among listeners and radio broadcasters is great, because better reception also means a wider range of listening programs and fewer technical glitches.
The role of the domestic cat in society
In a completely different realm, but equally fascinating, is the domestic cat (Felis catus), which is valued as a popular pet worldwide. Domestication of these small, carnivorous mammals began 7,500 years ago in the Middle East and has grown to a global population of around 600 million cats today, shows Wikipedia.
Cats have earned their place in our hearts thanks to their powerful bodies and quick reflexes. They are social creatures that communicate through meowing, purring and body language. Their flexibility, which helps them hunt, is admirable, which is why many cat owners offer their pet a luxurious life within their own four walls.
The mixture of NDR's promising projects in the area of DAB+ reception and the timeless fascination for the house cat shows how diverse our interests and social life are. May the radio waves stay clear and the cats stay addicted to gaming!
