Ice skating season in Neubrandenburg starts with a huge rush of visitors!
A new winter, a new pleasure: The 17th ice skating season in Neubrandenburg started with a colorful start on November 25, 2025. This season promises not only frosty fun on the ice, but also a variety of events and activities for all age groups. Over 100 enthusiastic guests, mainly young people, enjoyed the fresh fun in the neu.sw ice skating rink on the market square. The first 100 visitors were lucky enough to get on the ice for free, which created an additional rush. The ice rink is open to everyone – from amateur skaters to professionals.
An impressive show by the Neubrandenburg Blizzards club, which thrilled the guests with a spectacular ice skating performance, provided a special flair. For the next six weeks, the ice rink invites you to swing your skates, whether ice skating, curling or even the popular ice discos. Special attention was also paid to the seniors, for whom there are special ice skating times. In addition, many school classes are planning trips to the ice rink, with additional morning appointments set up due to high demand. Bookings are easily possible via an online portal.
Last season broke records
A look back shows how popular the neu.sw ice rink is: in the previous season there were over 21,000 guests, setting a new visitor record. The municipal utility attributes this to the increasing popularity and overall good organization. On average, around 500 visitors were welcomed per day. The highlights of last season included the record day on December 27th with 847 guests and December 7th with 806 guests. This clearly shows that the open-air hall is a popular destination for many Neubrandenburgers.
However, the past few years have not been easy, as the ice skating season could not take place for three years due to Corona and the global energy crisis. Everyone involved was all the more pleased about the successful conclusion of the last season, in which the neu.sw ice skating school and curling were in great demand. The senior activities were also well attended, with between 30 and 40 participants taking part on the dates, which underlines the popularity of the ice skating opportunities.
A look forward
With the start of the new season on November 25th and the end on January 4th, 2026, the ice rink will once again cover the icy slopes where fun and togetherness are the top priority. Meanwhile, the dismantling of the hall has already begun and is scheduled to be completed by January 26th. As far as the next ice skating season is concerned, no dates have been announced yet. The operators of the hall would like to thank the city and sponsors such as NDR, Nordkurier and Sparkasse Neubrandenburg-Demmin for their support.
