Large contingent in Western Pomerania: missing in the forest after hours!

on Sunday morning, June 15, 2025, a large contingent of emergency services in a forest area between Lübs and Mönkebude was employed to seek a person reported as missing. According to Nordkurier's reporting, the fire brigades from Lübs, Grambin, Bellin, Mönkebude and Ueckermünde were alerted around 1 a.m. For the search, both drones for air monitoring and soil teams were mobilized, which combed the area on foot. After around four hours of intensive search, the missing person could be found safely, and the mission ended around 5:30 a.m. No further information on the background of the missing person was announced by the police.

The meaning of search actions

search actions like this are of great importance and are often carried out under high pressure when a person is reported as missing. The Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) explains that a person is missing if they are inexplicably absent from their whereabouts and is accepted by a threat to life or life. Adults who unsubscribe independently do not usually fall under this definition, while minors who leave their living area are considered missing and can be taken into state care. The local police station is usually responsible for the immediate search for people and, as in the present case, can cause large -scale search measures that often require support from the emergency police and emergency services. By 2025, around 9,420 missing cases in the police information system, inpol, were registered, whereby approx. 50 % of the cases could be clarified within a week.

a tragic case in Noer

In the context of disappeared people, there are also tragic developments, as in the case of 43-year-old Tanja K. from Noer in the Rendsburg-Eckernförde district, as reported NDR. Here the police and the public prosecutor assume a possible crime, since several search campaigns and extensive investigations were unsuccessful. A gray van that is related to the case leaves space for speculation about a possible act of violence. Although so far there are no longer any major search campaigns, the police remain grateful for clues that could help bring light to the dark. An update of the case has been initiated in the ZDF program "File number XY ... unresolved" and on social media in order to draw attention to the unsolved questions.

In summary, it can be said that search actions, regardless of whether they are successful or not, are of great importance. They show how closely the community works together to clarify the fate of missing persons, even if not all cases can end with positive news. There is always something when people dive down and the feeling of uncertainty and concern remains, especially for the relatives.
