Liepgartenlauf breaks record: 89 athletes create a record atmosphere!
The 3rd Liepgarten Run attracted a record number of participants last Saturday. A whopping 89 athletes took part in the picturesque setting of Liepgarten, which gave the event organizers great joy. Mayor Falk Becker was enthusiastic about the family character of the event and the high number of participants, which was a significant jump compared to the previous year with only 64 starters.
The day of the event was peppered with exciting competitions for all age groups, supported by the organizers SV Unit Ueckermünde, Lauftreff Ueckermünde, 1. LAV Torgelow and the municipality of Liepgarten. In addition to the range of 400 meters and 2 kilometers for young participants, there were challenges of 6 and 12 kilometers for the more experienced runners and a 6-kilometer route for walkers. The atmosphere was particularly lively thanks to the village festival that took place at the same time.
The winners of the day
The children had their very special moment in the 400 meter run. Charlotte Arndt from SVG Eggesin secured victory in the U8 girls with a time of 2:06 minutes, while Florian Schütte from 1. LAV Torgelow was ahead in the U8 boys with 2:12 minutes.

Heiko Kessel from Ueckermünde secured victory among the men with a time of 28:54 minutes.

A look into the future
The next competition in the UER running cup series will take place next Wednesday in the Ueckermünder Waldstadion. Start times are at 5 p.m. for the U10 to U15 age groups, while all other athletes start at 5:45 p.m. The Liepgarten Run will certainly remain an important highlight in the region's calendar next year.
The Liepgarten Volunteer Fire Department traditionally provided food for the participants, offering delicious pea stew. A big thank you to all the helpers and supporters who made this day possible.
As Nordkurier reports, the enthusiasm for the Liepgartenlauf is unbroken and it remains to be hoped that the next event will attract even more participants and bring the community further together.
