Playing children on tracks: Police prevents tensile disaster!
Lalendorf, Deutschland - On Wednesday evening, an incident at the Lalendorf train station, in the Rostock district, caused excitement. An attentive caller informed the police that children played on the train tracks. The Federal Police Inspection Rostock immediately had the route locked to prevent worse things. As a result, two trains were delayed by more than half an hour, while another train had to be diverted. Fortunately, the alarmed federal police finally found three minor girls, who were outside the track area. After a corresponding instruction, the girls were handed over to their legal guardians.
In this context, the Federal Police once again urgently warned of the dangers that are connected to the stay on rail systems. Especially the high speed and the silence of trains, coupled with the suction effect, are a considerable risk. The incident illustrates how important it is that parents to clarify their children about the dangers and to pay attention to suitable venues. It is not the first time that children ensure a route closure due to dangerous gimmicks in the track area. A similar incident occurred on the railway line from Flensburg to Kiel in 2018, although the federal police also had to block the route immediately after the train drivers had noticed children on the track. These and similar situations are not only a danger to children, but also create considerable psychological pressure on the train driver and rescue workers who have to act quickly in such moments. Bahnblogstelle reports that the Federal Police spokesman Heiko Kraft urgently appeals to the parents where their children play.
prevention measures of Deutsche Bahn
In order to avoid such incidents, Deutsche Bahn has developed various materials for accident prevention for children. A special prevention package called "Safe with Oli" is aimed at the youngest train travelers and conveys playfully how to correctly behave at train stations and tracks. The materials were created in cooperation with the federal police and are optimized for use in class. An animated film is also used, which tells the history of a curious boy and addresses the dangers of train systems. All videos are available on YouTube and are intended to get young people to rethink reckless behaviors such as crossing tracks or posing in the track bed for selfies.
Education with the little ones already begins in preschool age. Deutsche Bahn offers teaching materials, handicrafts and even stickers to sensitize children to the dangers in the track area. With such programs, the foundation stone is laid to promote the correct behavior on rail systems from an early age. The goal is clear: prevent accidents and raise awareness of security -relevant topics.
It remains to be hoped that such dangerous game situations can be avoided in the future.
