Health campaign in Lübz: 211 citizens take advantage of opportunities for prevention!
The health days of the Ludwigslust-Parchim job center took place last weekend in the multi-generation house (MGH) in Lübz and attracted a lot of attention with 211 participants of all age groups. The event also took place in Sternberg and Parchim and aimed to increase awareness of health, prevention and social support. The welcome was given by Petra Weis, the representative for equal opportunities in the labor market.
Among the numerous supporters of the event were the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania State Association for Health Promotion, the Diakoniewerk Kloster Dobbertin as well as the district's specialist health service and the nursing base. We worked together on a concept to address heterogeneous target groups and offer them valuable information.
Diverse offers for everyone
The health days offered a wide range of offers. The tips on heat protection in the workplace as well as various project offers that were developed specifically for older people were particularly popular. In addition, every visitor was able to take part in cooking healthy dishes together. The hands-on activities included preparing salads, dips and smoothies as well as Nordic walking. All elements of health promotion that can also be found in other regional initiatives were vividly implemented. Health Promotion Switzerland, for example, attaches great importance to a balanced diet and regular exercise as a basis for well-being and the prevention of illness, which is also reflected in the activities of the health days.
A central component is the advisory services, where participants were able to take advantage of individual psychological counseling, debt and addiction counseling as well as information about health promotion and help offers in the district. Events like these actively promote the health of the population and support the quality of life in the region - an important point that the Federal Ministry of Health repeatedly emphasizes in its publications.
Outlook and continuation of health offers
The participants expressed the wish for the health services to continue in the coming years. Funding for the project currently runs out at the end of 2025, but discussions to continue it are already underway. The involvement of communities plays an important role here. As in various health promotion initiatives in a municipal setting - for example as part of a cantonal action program in Switzerland - there is the possibility that communities can be integrated into the implementation of the projects or take responsibility themselves.
Perhaps Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania can create similar structures to continue to focus on health and prevention in the future. The positive feedback from the population shows that there is real potential here that should be further promoted. Health promotion is not just a buzzword, it means actively ensuring the well-being of all generations - as the Health Days impressively demonstrated.
