Student friendships on the fast track: Lübz visits Hamburg!

Something is happening in Lübz! Class 6a of the regional school has big plans: a visit from the partner school class 6b of the “Am Heidberg” district school in Hamburg is imminent. This was made possible by micro-project funding of 1,000 euros, which was applied for from the Ludwigslust-Parchim district youth association. The symbolic check presentation took place on July 1st, where participation moderator Dunja Krachenfels was able to witness the students' joy. Class representative Thekla and her colleague Lennard proudly accepted the check.

The Lübz students are really looking forward to seeing their classmates from Hamburg again. At the end of April, the students from Hamburg visited the Lübz school and took part in a school rally and a tour of the city. During their time together, the students also made friendship hands, a project that they now want to complete on their return visit to Hamburg. So there is a lot to discuss and show!

Funding from the Foundation for Tolerance

This funding is part of a larger program by the Foundation for Tolerance and International Understanding, which is aimed at combating xenophobia, racism and intolerance. Innovative projects that are developed by and for children and young people in the new federal states and Berlin are particularly addressed. The foundation aims to promote tolerance and cultural diversity, which corresponds to the very spirit of this school partnership. In addition to the visit to Hamburg, which is planned for July 14th to 15th, the schools also have other initiatives available to strengthen the exchange between cultures and promote mutual understanding.

The funding of these projects shows how valuable school partnerships are. These connections not only have the potential to enrich learning, but also open new horizons for students. That's why it's important to support such projects and to see that there is a willingness to make friends across borders.

Fun and learning in exchange

The student exchange offers a wonderful opportunity for everyone involved. “Getting to know each other, finding common ground and experiencing different types of schools” is the declared goal of the Lübz students, and they achieve this in an impressive way. At the beginning of the project, the students even wrote personal letters to their friends in Hamburg and organized a video conference in advance to get to know each other better.

The importance of such initiatives is emphasized again and again, and this is not only recognized in Lübsen. School partnerships throughout Germany are an important link between cultures. They promote exchange, not only through joint activities, but also through personal contact, which is often the foundation for long-term relationships. It becomes clear that education and encounters can go hand in hand, and that such programs not only create knowledge, but also tolerance and respect.

The students in class 6a are not only looking forward to the return visit, but also to the many new experiences they will gain in Hamburg. It remains exciting to see what this partnership will bring!
