In a shattering process that is treated at the Schwerin district court, Kevin B. (27) and Manfred S. (32) must be responsible for serious bodily harm. The case that originated in Wismar raises questions about the role of the judicial system and shows the dark side of human relationships.
The two men are charged with having tortured Kevin B., Marie V., in a garden house. One of the brutal deeds is the fliping out with a power cable and a heavy knife stab in the neck that let the blade penetrate into the throat of Marie V. Doctors and paramedics described the injuries as an expression of an incredible brutality. Marie V. still suffers from the consequences of the deed today and is littered with hematoma all over the body.
The long shadow of the past
Both defendants remained silent during the procedure, which hardly surprises in view of the severity of the deeds. Kevin B. is not only a criminal record, but has also been in prison for serious crimes, including human robbery and assault. In 2021 he was released from custody and underwent management supervision that included requirements such as regular alcohol and drug tests. Ironically, the judicial authority had expressed the warning not to look after Kevin B. with a female probation assistant. Despite these concerns, his probation helper, Franziska P., Kevin as polite and problem -free.
During his probation period, Kevin B. took part in 70 agreed appointments, but ignored several important alcohol and drug controls. Instead, he had to face cannabis and cocaine several times, which questioned the requirements of his probation decision. From February 2024 he was also without a permanent residence. These dramatic incidents fall into a context that affects violent crime in Germany. Statistics show that violent crimes make up a relatively small but frightening part of the overall crime.
