On this day there was a tragic accident on a bike path that demanded the life of a 60-year-old vacationer from Mönchengladbach. During a bike tour with her husband, the two of a group of cyclists wanted to overtake when the unfortunate collision with an oncoming racing cyclist happened.

The incident occurred on a difficult to see right -hand bend along the Wohlenberger Wiek near Nordwestmecklenburg. Despite the attempted avoidance and braking of the 49-year-old racing cyclist, there was a tragic collision. The vacationer fell and suffered a heavy traumatic brain trauma and lung damage, even though she was wearing a bicycle helmet. Her injuries were so serious that it had to be reanimated at the scene of the accident and was flown to a hospital in Lübeck with a rescue helicopter.
