Malchin is planning a lot of expansion: Pestalozzi elementary school is modernized!

In Malchin something is happening in school policy! It has long been known that more space was needed at the Pestalozzi primary school. Now the city, somewhat surprising for the citizens, has presented concrete plans that provide for a redesign and expansion of the popular educational institution. In this context, Mayor Axel Müller (CDU) decidedly rejected allegations of the secrecy and clarified that the renovation of the Marcus School should be treated primarily before new projects are addressed.

Currently, the Pestalozzi primary school urgently needs more space for all-day care. In order to do justice to this, the city plans a total of three million euros for the project, with the majority of funding to be secured through funding. The focus is on the construction of a third school building and a connecting building between the existing school houses, which should enable barrier -free access. The design of the outdoor facilities and renovation work in the existing school buildings, especially in the sanitary area, are also part of the project.

A new multifunctional room for creative minds

The connecting construction should accommodate a multifunctional room on the ground floor, while three group rooms should be found for the students on the upper floor. Since the elementary school is under monument protection, connecting construction must be designed in a modern way in order to avoid a stylistic break. The plans also stipulate that the basement will be used more sensibly in the future. It is even considered to claim part of the school yard for the new building and to expand it to the adjacent heating house site, which will be demolished soon.

Interest also shows the AfD parliamentary group, which suggested to transform the demolished heating house area into a youth club. The start of the construction work could take place next year if the financing is secured. It is planned to promote the creation of the connecting construction during the ongoing school operations, whereby loud work is to be laid in the holiday season. Ensuring this measure is part of the responsible planning that the student's well -being puts in the first place.

school building in the context of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania

The current developments in Malchin are not to be viewed in isolation. All over Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, the school authorities are responsible for the construction and maintenance of modern school buildings. The country supports investments in the school infrastructure in order to meet the increasing requirements. In the context of these endeavors, the planned conversion of the Pestalozzi primary school is an important step to ensure quality educational offers and to better cover the space requirements for all-day schools in the future, as provided for other federal states in their school policy measures, as on bildungsserver.de.

The city of Malchin is therefore a new chapter in school development. It remains exciting how the plans will be specified and what influence this will have on the students and the local community. After all, it is ultimately a matter of creating not only the structural, but also the pedagogical basis for the coming generations. The future looks promising!
