Malchin is revolutionizing parking: almost all machines are disappearing!

There are currently some changes in Malchin that affect both drivers and pedestrians. On Thursday, the last five old coin-operated machines, which had been in use since 2008, were dismantled. The reason? Spare parts were no longer available and three of the machines no longer worked. In view of the high maintenance and repair costs for the machines on Schweriner Strasse and Wargentiner Strasse, the city administration has decided not to install new parking machines in these areas. However, Hannes Jähnke, head of the Malchin public order office, is confident that these measures will have a positive impact. He expects that the new maximum parking time of two hours, which must be adhered to with a parking disc in the future, will increase the time spent in the city's shops.

Loud Northern Courier Parking fees in Malchin are moderate. The first half hour of parking is free, each additional half hour costs just 25 cents, with a maximum parking time of two hours. Contrary to some expectations, a short-term increase in parking fees is not planned, as changes would require a change to the statutes. A new parking machine will be installed in the immediate vicinity of the town hall, which will also allow card payment and can be retrofitted for the spa tax.

The old town and nature

What you can also be proud of in Malchin is the beautiful old town. The city, which lies in the heart of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and has around 7,500 inhabitants, offers a successful mix of historical splendor and natural relaxation. The well-preserved brick Gothic buildings are particularly attractive to visitors. These include, among others, the St. John's Church from the 14th century and the neo-Gothic town hall from the 19th century with its striking red brick facade.

The surrounding nature around Malchin is a real magnet for nature lovers. The city is an ideal starting point for exploring the Mecklenburg Lake District, which is known for its numerous lakes and waterways. The Kummerower See, the fourth largest lake in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, offers numerous leisure activities such as swimming, sailing and fishing.

Digital parking made easy

There is a convenient solution for drivers: With the Mobilet app, parkers in Malchin can now register their car digitally in a relaxed manner without having to queue at the machine. This innovation comes at a good time, as parking at the Market Square is free for up to a week. This enables citizens and visitors to the city to enjoy relaxing and uncomplicated parking.

Overall, the city of Malchin shows that it has a good hand when it comes to combining modernity with tradition, while always keeping the well-being of its citizens and visitors in mind. Malchin remains a worthwhile destination that wins the hearts of many people with its historic old town and close proximity to nature.
