Modernization in Stavenhagen: Elevators make everyday life easier!

A lot has happened in Stavenhagen! In the street by the water tower, the multi-story apartment blocks numbers 7 to 13 have finally been equipped with elevators. This has been happening over the past few months and the modern elevators were put into operation at the end of November. This marks the end of the extensive modernization work on the building, which began in May 2023.

The first measures included opening the walls to the existing four staircases, erecting steel structures for the elevator shafts and laying electrical cables. In September 2023 the time had come: the elevators were installed and the facade of the building was freshly painted. In addition, the staircases and stairwells shine in new splendor as they have been decorated with pictures of students from the Fritz Reuter Elementary School.

A new wind for the residential complex

Parallel to the elevator installation, the outdoor facilities were also renovated, which noticeably improved the overall appearance of the characteristic GDR new building district in the western part of the city. Another highlight is the planned construction of a new bicycle garage, which is scheduled to start in December or January, depending on the weather. Beacons have already marked out the area for this.

There have been many positive changes in the neighborhood in recent years. Last year, for example, new balconies were added to the apartment blocks at Heinrich-Heine-Straße 17 to 39. The district has become more colorful, especially thanks to the “FritzArt” facade art festival at Pentecost, which had a large number of gables creatively designed by well-known artists. Block numbers 7 to 13 also received a work of art, while the block next door was artistically enhanced by American artist Aniekan Udofia and the block opposite by French artist Kalouf.

A regional gem

The extensive renovations help residents feel more comfortable in their surroundings. By integrating contemporary art and modern infrastructure, the living environment is not only enhanced, but also creates space for community and creative expression. The new design of the district makes it clear: a lot has happened here in the last few years and the future looks promising.

Overall, it can be said that the investments in the modernization of the apartment block not only serve practical use, but also promote social interaction. Residents can look forward to a livelier and more attractive living environment, which will noticeably increase the quality of life in Stavenhagen.
