The tragic case of eight-year-old Fabian from Güstrow continues to cause a great stir and concerns the investigative authorities in Germany. How Mercury Reportedly, the boy went missing on October 10, 2025 when his mother left him home alone while she was at work. Fabian had previously had a nosebleed the day before, which is why his mother decided not to take him to work.
The terrible discovery followed four days later: Fabian's body was found in a pond in Klein Upahl, about nine kilometers from Güstrow. In this context, the investigators have identified a suspected person - Fabian's father's ex-girlfriend. She is currently in custody and an arrest warrant against her was confirmed by the Rostock District Court on December 3rd. In public they are presumed innocent.
Investigations and evidence
The ongoing investigation is focused on identifying the suspected murder weapon. The police are currently evaluating recordings from a surveillance camera from a shop near Fabian's home address. These could potentially provide crucial clues. According to information from the Rostock public prosecutor's office, almost 1,000 traces have already been secured and are being checked.
The evidence against the suspected ex-girlfriend seems to be increasing. Investigators have several alleged witnesses who incriminate the woman. Her defense attorney, however, emphasizes that the detention is based only on circumstantial evidence and not on hard evidence. On December 4th, a meadow near where the body was found was also searched, but without any significant new findings. The situation remains tense and investigators continue to work intensively to shed light on this sad case.
It remains to be seen whether the evaluated surveillance videos can provide new insights as the public impatiently waits for answers. The events surrounding this murder case not only brought Güstrow into focus, but also affected the whole of Germany.
