Scandal in a shell: Kita celebrates spectacular summer party!

On July 3, 2025, the AWO daycare center “Kleine Weinbergschnecken” in Waren shone with a cheerful holiday glow. As part of the summer festival, not only were the preschool children given a ceremonial farewell, but the tenth anniversary of the facility was also duly celebrated. With a colorful program that made the children's anticipation clear, there was a big family celebration at the end that will certainly be remembered for a long time.

The highlight of the day was a parody of the song “Scandal in the Restricted District” created by Kirstin Krafzik’s team of educators. The refrain “Scandal, in a snail shell” was enthusiastically sung along by the audience and created an exuberant atmosphere. On this occasion, each of the seven preschool children received a lovingly hand-made sugar cone, a token of appreciation and a new beginning, while the children wished the preschool children all the best with songs and poems.

Festive traditions and activities

Another festive custom that the daycare center practiced was the release of symbolic doves from wooden cages, as happened at the inauguration ten years ago. The summer festival program was packed with activities: the little guests could try their luck on the Wheel of Fortune, ride on dinosaurs, visit the make-up station or try their luck at the tombola. Singing, dancing and laughter accompanied the celebrations into the evening.

“Summer months in daycare provide an excellent opportunity to offer lots of activities for children,” explains a teacher. Such celebrations not only strengthen the sense of community, but also help children develop social skills and promote cohesion. However, planning a summer party requires a lot of preparation. Questions about the organization, such as the number of expected guests or the availability of room equipment, must be clarified in good time. The commitment and creativity of the preparation team are crucial, as is the involvement of parents, who often help with set-up and dismantling.

A look into the future

The positive experiences and enthusiasm of the children and parents show that the AWO daycare center “Kleine Weinbergschnecken” has a good hand when it comes to planning and implementing its celebrations. In the future, educators could also work with thematic mottos. Suggestions range from circuses to traveling around the world to creative “summer hip-hop” celebrations that are not only fun but also encourage children's creativity.

“The long-term goal of the educators is to make children believe in themselves and to lead them out of their ‘snail shell,’” one educator aptly summarizes it. So the summer festival remains not only an exuberant celebration, but also an important part of the educational work that is carried out in the AWO daycare center.
