Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania shines at the World Student Games 2025!

The anticipation in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is great, because... World University Games (World Student Games) are just around the corner. While around 8,500 athletes from 150 nations will set out in the Rhine-Ruhr region and Berlin from July 16 to 27, 2025, our federal state will also be represented by seven talented athletes. The Games are the third largest multi-sport event in the world, behind only the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The nominations for the event are now fixed. It is particularly pleasing that seven athletes from Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania are taking part in the various disciplines. These outstanding talents are not only active in sports, but also studying - a real proof of the balancing act between academic life and competitive sports.

A look at the athletes

The impressive list of starters from Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania shows the wide spectrum of talent:

Competitions and preparations

For the divers Jette Müller and Espen Prenzyna, the competitions begin on July 17th and run until July 23rd in Berlin. These games are also considered a dress rehearsal for the World Championships in Singapore, which will begin on July 26th. Jette emphasized that being nominated for these Games means a lot to her and she hopes to reach the finals and maybe even win a medal.

This event not only provides a platform for international competition, but also the opportunity to gain experiences that are important to the athletes. The General German University Sports Association (ADH) has put together a powerful squad to provide the best possible support for students from all over Germany. This will certainly be a great sporting festival, and the participation from Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania shows that talented athletes are also growing up in this country.

The World University Games therefore represent an important opportunity for our athletes. We keep our fingers crossed for all athletes from Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and look forward to exciting competitions!
