New Rufbus connects Stralsund with the surrounding area: more mobility for everyone!

Vorpommern-Rügen, Deutschland - A fresh wind blows through mobility in Western Pomerania. From the end of June 2025, a new call bus between Stralsund and the surrounding north will close the last gap in the Rufbus system on the mainland. According to the Vorpommern-Rügen (VVR), this measure will significantly improve public transport and thus also the accessibility for all residents: inside and visitors: promote inside the region. Thus, those responsible rely on a sustainable mobility solution that has already proven itself in other regions.

The call buses are already in use in the cities of Tribsees, Bad Sülze, Marlow, Ribnitz-Damgarten, Barth and Franzburg and have established themselves as a popular transport agent. There are similarly positive developments on the island of Rügen: Here, the call bus offers are currently limited to the area south of Velvet, but here too a new line will be launched on June 30, 2025 and further extensions are being planned, as the VVR reports.

VVR surfer: Flexible mobility for everyone

A highlight of the Rufbus initiative is the VVR-Surfer , which has been available in Grimmen since June 1, 2024. This flexible mobility solution enables passengers to conveniently book call buses by phone or via the specially developed app. It is important to register the trips at least 60 minutes in advance. Especially for people with wheelchairs are required 24 hours in advance. The central service number for bookings is 0385 555 733 40 or 038326-600 666.

Also remarkable: from now on the cashless payment is possible in the Rufbus Ilse. This not only modernized the booking, but also the payment. The driving prices are calculated in the tariff weaving system, and tickets can be purchased from the driver in the vehicle-for the time being only cash.

support from the country

The establishment of a comprehensive nationwide call bus system is strongly promoted by the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig recently handed over a notice of grant over around 1.45 million euros for call bus traffic. This support is made via the VMV transport company Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, which has promised a total of 13.5 million euros for the construction and operation of the system for 2024. An important financial basis to meet the needs of the population in rural regions.

Overall, it turns out that the mobility offensive under the motto "MV drives well" in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania takes a big step forward. The call buses offer an attractive addition to the existing public transport offer and contribute to connecting even more remote regions to the transport network. This increases the quality of life and facilitates many people access to important goals.
