65-year-old renewed stadium fence in Stralsund: a heart project!

An impressive example of civic engagement is currently evident on Frankendamm in Stralsund. Mario Kramm, 65 years old, decided to renew the approximately 100 -meter -long fence of the friendship stadium. His goal? To give something back to the city and to make the fence for the upcoming 165th anniversary of TSV Stralsund 1860 e.V. href = "https://www.nordkurier.de/regional/mecklenburg-vorpommern/darum-streicht-dieser-65-jaehrige-rund-100-meter-stadion-zaun-3669175" Target = "_ blank"> Nordkurier reported.

Kramm, a passionate football fan who has been living in Stralsund for several years, started work in May. In order to be able to raise the new coat of paint, he works meticulously to remove the old paint of the metal fence. With spatula and sandpaper, it removes the old coat to create a beautiful surface for the fresh color in Stralsund-Rot. He receives support from Carsten Schmidt, the place keeper of the stadium.

a festival for the sports community

The event for the celebration of TSV 1860, one of the oldest sports clubs in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, will take place on June 19. If you want to help, you are cordially invited to come together at the entrance gate of the stadium on Thursday at 4 p.m. The city administration kindly provided the necessary tools and the color so that the fence can shine in time for the anniversary.

The TSV 1860 Stralsund, originally founded as a men's gymnastics club on August 17, 1860, has had a moving story. During the GDR period, the association developed from a company sports community to a solid sports club that continued its traditions even after the turn of 1989/90. It is the second oldest gymnastics and sports club in the state. The association is strongly committed to convey social skills and promotes health and movement in the region, as on the official website of the association tsv1860stralsund.de

sports and civil engagement in change

The time after the turning point has also changed a lot in the sports area and brought new challenges. The transition from the ideological conviction for integration into the all-German sports system was not always easy, as the Federal Center for Political Education . Athletes from both German states had to orient themselves in a new reality where the competition and the requirements have grown considerably. Nevertheless, the commitment on site, like that of Mario Kramm, remains an essential source for the revitalization and development of local sport.

In the context of these changes, it is also becoming increasingly clear how important it is that citizens actively contribute to their community. Kramm's initiative is not only a sign of appreciation for local sport, but also an invitation to others, also to work for their homeland. If everyone is responsible for their surroundings, this can have a sustainable effect on the future of our communities.
