Environmental photo festival in Zingst: 18 exhibitions inspire 25,000 visitors!

The Baltic Sea Heailing Zingst looks back on a successful 18th edition of the environmental photo festival "Horizonte Zingst", which took place from May 23 to June 1, 2025. A topic that affects us all - "resources" - was the focus and not only amazed visitors, but also stimulated thought. In her opening speech, curator Edda Fahrenhorst emphasized the responsibility and appreciation that we have to maintain together. It became clear that the festival not only celebrates the beauty of photography, but also addresses important social values ​​in complex times. According to Photoscala.de there were 12 exhibitions in which 34 photographers and 18 photo enthusiasts took part.

In total, the 25,000 visitors flocked to Zingst. It was lively in vernissages, photo machines and multivision shows. These high number of visitors show that the festival found a home in the heart of photography and environmental protection lovers. A highlight was the beach exhibition "Rainbow Robota World" by Jan von Holleben, which can be viewed until October and creates the connection to nature in a creative way.

The festival had numerous program items ready: from photo workshops to panels to exhibition tours - there was something for everyone here. Over 800 bookings in 120 photo workshops at the Zingstster Photo School show how many hobby photographers have used the chance to improve their skills. The variety of programs was supplemented by new formats and events, such as the popular photo market that offered unique camera equipment and accessories. In “Image of the Tages Powered by Epson”, participants had the opportunity to submit and display their creative works.

Festivals such as "Horizonte Zingst" help to raise awareness of environmental issues. Experts from all over the world discuss environmental protection and photography, which stimulates the exchange of ideas between photographers and the audience. The festival becomes a platform for important discussions about the responsible use of water, air, fossil fuels and raw materials - central elements of this year's topic.

As in the past, the organizers want to continue to illuminate the complexity of the term "resources" and thus stimulate a respectful way of dealing with nature.
