Water slump on Bodden: Sailors saved in a life -threatening location!

Bodden vor Zingst, Deutschland - A truly dramatic weekend for the sailors in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: On June 14, 2025, a one-hand glider in the Bodden before Zingst experienced a shocking situation. The water slump into his boat forced him to control it in shallow water and ask the alarmed sea rescuers for help. As the Nordkurier was serious than the water was quickly half-high in the boat Stand.

The alarm of the German Society for the Rescue of Shipwrecker (DGZRS) promptly ran. Zingst became the basis for the rescue workers, while the volunteer fire brigades from Prerow and Zingst were on willingness. There was initially uncertainty about the exact location of the incidental ship, as a bridge opening to the Meiningen Bridge had to be considered. Fortunately, the skipper, who had already partially emptied his boat, could bring the water slump under control in good time.

successful rescue operation

The sea rescuers then took the boat into tow and certainly transported it to the Zingst water hiking office. Wind strengths of four to five Beaufort did not make the salvage easy, but fortunately the skipper was not injured. Another good sign: The fire brigades were able to cancel their use without having to intervene actively.

The experiences of another sailor in the North Sea also also skill lightly on the challenges that water sports enthusiasts sometimes serve. On October 3, 2024, a collision between a cargo ship, the "Lotta" and a 9.50 meter long sailing yacht occurred in the North Sea. The incident occurred approximately five north-north-north-north of Scharhörn, such as the sailing reporter describes.

collision in the North Sea

Despite the serious damage to the sailing yacht, the skipper from Hude was not injured. The DGZRS was alerted by the Cuxhaven traffic center at around 6:40 a.m. While the "Lotta" remained almost undamaged, the sailing yacht was significantly affected. A large hole gaped on the port side, only two hand width above the waterline, which was an extremely critical situation for the skipper.

In a well -organized rescue operation, the DGZRS ordered two sea rescue cruisers, Anneliese Kramer and Hermann Marwede, to the scene of the accident. Another sailing yacht helped by taking the damaged yacht on the hook to prevent a beach. Hermann Marwede's daughter boat made sure that the skipper was properly taken care of.

The towing association finally arrived in Cuxhaven around 12:20 p.m., where the skipper did not need medical help. The Seenotretter once again helpable.

Such incidents show how essential the work of the sea rescuers and the rapid willingness of the fire brigade is. Sailing is a passionate sport, but it is always associated with a certain risk. It is to be hoped that such dramatic situations will remain rare and that the waterways will continue to be safe.
