Loitz fire department celebrates the inauguration of the modern equipment house and LF 20!

A new phase for the Loitz fire department: On June 16, 2025, the modern fire station in Loitz was ceremoniously inaugurated. After a construction period of around a year, which began in February 2024, the firefighters can now look forward to their new location. The total investment of around 4.5 million euros was generously supported - more than 3.8 million euros came from the state and district, while the city raised 700,000 euros from its own resources Northern Courier reported.

The inauguration ceremony attracted numerous guests, including fellow firefighters from the surrounding communities of Peenetal/Loitz, Jarmen-Tutow, Demmin and the twin town of Hiddenhausen. The highlights of the ceremony included State Secretary Wolfgang Schmülling and Mayor Christin Witt taking the microphone. The latter not only thanked the companies carrying out the work, but also gave special recognition to Ute Krüger and treasurer Enrico Vogel for their support.

The new fire engine – an “all-rounder”

Another reason to be happy was the purchase of a new fire engine (LF 20) for around 480,000 euros, of which around 365,000 euros were covered by funding. The military leader Stephan Mielke described the vehicle as an “all-rounder”. Financing also comes from a contribution from the city of 118,000 euros.

The fire engine was officially put into operation on May 6, 2023 and impresses with its technical equipment. It is based on a Mercedes Benz ATEGO chassis and is equipped with a pump output of up to 3,000 liters per minute. Special features such as the “pump & roll” function and a heavy rescue kit with cutting device and spreader ensure that the Loitz fire department is well equipped, as the information on the website of the Lichtenau fire department confirm.

Blessing and open day

The blessing of the new equipment house and the fire engine by Pastor Friederike Grube rounded off the celebrations. However, this was just the beginning: After the inauguration, visitors were able to explore the fire station, including the new training rooms and the technical hall. A child-friendly program, supported by the Protestant daycare center and the Kruckow-Schmarsow fire department, brought smiles to faces - especially among the little visitors who took the opportunity to sit in the fire engine.

Overall, the successful inauguration not only shows the progress of the Loitz fire department, but also the commitment of the city and its partners to create a modern and functional framework for disaster control. Fire service technical standards, which are also used in the Berlin fire department, lay the foundation for effective operational tactics, as described on the website Berlin fire department are set out.
