Lang of teachers in the Uecker-Randow region: Looking for career changers!

In the Uecker-Randow region, the lack of teachers is a pressing problem that can be felt at almost every school. In order to cover this need, the State School Authority tours the Vorpommern-Greifswald district and is looking for specialists and side entrants. A recent job exchange at the regional school Ernst Thälmann in Eggesin should pave new ground. Marit Schindler from the Greifswald school office welcomed numerous representatives of the schools and interested applicants.

The situation is clear: teachers are urgently needed. Kathleen Krumrück, the headmistress in Eggesin, reported that seven teachers are currently missing at her school and have already been advertised five jobs. We are looking for teachers for subjects such as German, history, mathematics, physics and computer science. A big advantage for applicants is a master's degree, especially for interface compartments such as biology and chemistry. Side climbs are also open to high doors, although Marit Schindler points out the associated challenges of the teaching profession. If you are interested in this career path, you can use internships to get an insight into everyday work.

The problem of teaching teachers is not limited to the Uecker-Randow region. Throughout Germany, several federal states have to deal with vacancies. According to Statista, a deficiency of over 17,400 teachers will be forecast for 2024. Secondary level I and vocational schools are particularly affected. Almost 50% of new settings in Brandenburg and Saxony-Anhalt were made with people without formal teaching training in 2024 . This has far -reaching consequences, not only for those affected, but also for the students and their learning environment.

The youngsters in the teaching profession

The situation could slowly relax in the coming years, but until then it will be a long way. An oversupply of teachers is expected in Germany at the earliest in 2033. The proportion of transverse and side entrances has increased recently. In the school year 2021/22, 8.6 % of teachers already worked at general education schools without a teacher examination, a significant increase compared to 5.9 % ten years ago. This proportion is even 20.8 %in vocational schools.

But not only the lateral entrants represent a key to solving the problem. The number of students also increases, which increases the pressure on schools. In 2023 and 2024, most children have started school since 2003. By 2035, an increase in the number of students is expected by over 9 %. The so -called baby boom of the 2010s is now noticeable and will present the schools with new challenges. Factors such as the increase in students who gain university entrance qualification, and immigration through the causes of flight, for example the war in Ukraine, continue to drive up.

The Conference of Ministers of Culture has certified in a current investigation that the educational situation in the eastern federal states, where a wave of retirement is imminent, is particularly tense. A high level of new settings will be necessary here.

Education policy therefore faces a few challenges, but the signs are on change. It is all the more important that suitable teachers are found in the Uecker-Randow region and beyond, in order to prepare the students as best as possible for their future.

If you are interested, you can look around the job offers of the schools in the region. Openness and the will to shape the work with children are basic requirements. The time is ripe to fill the teacher nervoir with fresh forces. The doors are open - it is up to the applicants to take this step.
