Löcknitz construction site: New school with a tree and an innovative indoor climate!

A new regional school is currently being built in Löcknitz, which will offer space for around 300 students. The shell of the educational facility, which has been under construction since mid-2024, is taking concrete shape. The windows have been installed, the electrics have been installed – and last but not least, the sanitary facilities have been installed. “We have already completed 60 to 70 percent of the work,” explains a spokesman for the municipality. However, the originally planned completion for the end of 2024 has been delayed, as Nordkurier reports.

The entire project costs a whopping 17 million euros. In order to award the contracts, a Europe-wide tender was necessary, which turned out to be quite complex. International companies also showed interest here, including an Indian company, but ultimately the contracts went to regional companies. Completion of the tile and terrazzo work is planned for the beginning of December 2025, with some of the work scheduled to begin on September 20, 2025, as can be seen from the tender documents from Tenders Germany.

Structural highlights and innovations

The new regional school in Löcknitz offers some construction highlights that are intended to ensure a pleasant learning environment. A particularly innovative concept is the use of more than 29 kilometers of underfloor heating, which is installed over an area of 4,000 square meters. This means that the students can enjoy a comfortable climate even during the colder months. In addition, the building will not have air conditioning. Instead, the windows automatically control ventilation, which promises a high level of comfort.

Another striking feature is the courtyard, which will be designed as an open-air classroom and houses a central tree. This should not only serve as a shady element, but also enable creative outside learning. Mayor Detlef Ebert emphasizes the immense importance of the new school for the community. Ultimately, over 1,000 children and young people are expected every day on the school campus, which, in addition to the new regional school, also includes a kindergarten, a primary school, a special needs school, a high school, an after-school care center and a sports hall.

Growing student numbers and investment questions

According to those responsible, what is particularly pleasing is the development of the number of students, which is increasing despite a general trend of falling student numbers in the German-Polish high school in Löcknitz. This raises the question of how the municipality can further develop its educational infrastructure in the future.

In order to meet the increasing demand, the role of educational institutions is viewed not only as a place of learning but also as an attractive investment opportunity. A study by PwC highlights the high ESG conformity of investments in educational properties and shows that school properties - especially for pension funds and pension funds - represent a worthwhile long-term investment.

Overall, with this new educational facility, Löcknitz will not only receive a modern school building, but will also take a further step into a future-oriented educational landscape. It will be exciting to see how the project develops in the coming months.
