Free holiday apartments: seasonal workers wanted for the Baltic Sea!

The start of the season on the Baltic Sea attracts numerous holidaymakers and therefore the necessary employees to the coast. But the demand for seasonal workers in restaurants, shops and service companies is high, which does not leave Konditorei Junge GmbH unaffected. With around 5,200 employees, around 100 of whom are employed seasonally, the company faces a challenge: dealing with the personnel shortage. The seasonal workers are employed from April to October, and the duration of their deployment can be flexibly arranged. Those interested even have the option of a long-term collaboration or an annual return.

A special offer from Konditorei Junge is the provision of free holiday apartments, which are available during the deployment. “That’s an unbeatable argument,” says an employee who came to the coast from another branch. Seasonal workers also benefit from numerous advantages such as a 50 percent staff discount, free hot drinks and discounts from manufacturers. Employee fitness and capital-forming benefits are also on the plus list. After the probationary period, trainees receive a performance bonus of up to 200 euros and subsidies for travel costs or training materials.

New opportunities on the job market

The Skilled Immigration Act, which has been in force since 2020, opens up further perspectives for foreign skilled workers. These are urgently needed in Germany to counteract the shortage of skilled workers. An adaptation of the Residence Act under the leadership of the Federal Ministry of the Interior and supplementary regulations from the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs aim to reduce bureaucratic hurdles. Among other things, this makes it easier to recognize foreign qualifications, which is of great benefit to potential employees, as BMAS reports.

However, the general conditions are not easy. The corona pandemic has brought with it many changes, and the willingness of workers to change is high. Employers must therefore create attractive conditions in order to find suitable applicants. The Junge confectionery has also recognized this new reality and is specifically relying on multilingual online training to appeal to internationally oriented employees. Around half of the company's seasonal employees already come from abroad, with a language level of B1 required.

The need for skilled workers

A look at the current labor market situation shows that the need for qualified specialists is constantly growing. According to employment agency statistics, a comprehensive search for solutions is essential in order to overcome the challenges of the shortage of skilled workers. If you have team spirit and enjoy working with people, your chances are particularly good in the hospitality industry and in sales. Typical tasks such as preparing snacks or making coffee specialties not only require creative skills, but also flexibility in terms of shift models (early, middle and late shift).

In this sense, the Junge Konditorei is not only an employer, but also an important player in the migration and integration issue. The incentives offered could be a win-win for both the seasonal employees and the company itself - especially with the summer months ahead. Rumors about various new culinary trends are in the air, and it remains exciting to see how the situation on the coast will develop.
