Frontal collision at Groß Luckow: three injured after the accident!

On Saturday evening there was a unfortunate accident on the route between Blumenhagen and Groß Luckow. Around 7 p.m., a 46-year-old woman and a 74-year-old man collided head-on, which not only affected the two adult drivers, but also the nine-year-old son of the woman. As the nordkurier was initially unclear, since the woman got on the opposite lane and thereby got the collision caused. Both vehicles were no longer ready to drive after the accident and had to be towed.

The collision also meant that the 74-year-old's van came off the street and collided with a tree and a guideline. Fortunately, despite the seriousness of the incident, all three participants remained only slightly injured. The total damage is estimated at around 76,000 euros, which is why the road had to be completely closed until the vehicles are rescued. The police, emergency services and eleven comrades from the Blumenhagen volunteer fire brigade were on site, which were previously requested due to a cocklike shed in Schönwalde and a wedding.

The background of traffic accidents

This tragedy is part of a major problem in road traffic, which we should not ignore. In 2023, around 2.5 million traffic accidents were registered in Germany, which corresponds to an increase compared to earlier decades. The decline in the road dead has slowed down since the early 2010s, as the numbers from an analysis of Statista . In 1970 19,193 people died in road traffic, in 2023 there were only 2,839. Despite all the efforts, the goal of the EU transport ministers, not to register any road deads by 2050, remains a challenge.

The increase in accidents due to distraction or insufficient distance is particularly alarming. In 2023, 15,700 accidents were due to alcohol, which led to 193 deaths and 18,686 injured. Almost 2,351 game accidents and 195 accidents from fog illustrate how many factors flow into the accident statistics. The large number of persons affected cannot leave the framework of the Enlightenment and the traffic safety policy, as the statistics of the Destatis.

These figures make it clear how important it is to continuously work on traffic safety and take preventive measures in order to avoid such unhappy incidents in the future. The events in Blumenhagen are a sad call call that reminds us all of our responsibility in road traffic.
