Grand finale: 200 musicians delight in Brahms' Requiem in Pasewalk!
Around 350 guests made their way to St. Mary's Church in Pasewalk on Saturday to experience the magnificent final concert of the German-Polish Music Summer. The evening was dominated by Johannes Brahms’ impressive work “German Requiem”, which was performed by the full cast. Under the direction of Julius Mauersberger, the cantor of Pasewalk, more than 200 musicians thrilled the audience.
This extraordinary performance was the largest to take place in St. Mary's Church for many years. Above all, the combination of choir, orchestra and vocal solos contributed to the special atmosphere of the evening. A total of three choirs were involved: those from Güstrow, Pasewalk and Neustrelitz, as well as the Western Pomerania Early Music Orchestra, which gave this musical experience a special shine. A specially constructed extra stage in the church ensured that the large ensemble was impressively staged.
The contributors
The evening's soloists, Cornelia Zink in the soprano and Georg Streuber-Chraniuk in the bass, rounded off the impressive ensemble and contributed significantly to the emotional depth of the performance. It was a real joy to see such talent on stage, captivating the audience. Participation in such an important event was a great honor for everyone involved, as the German-Polish Cultural Summer has a permanent place in the region.
The entry prices were more than fair at 15 euros (reduced 10 euros) for such a high-class event. Advance sales started on August 27th at the Lange bookhouse in Pasewalk and demand was considerable. Anyone who secured tickets in time could look forward to an unforgettable evening.
A cultural highlight
This concert not only set a striking point in this year's cultural summer, but also a sign of the cultural connection between Germany and Poland. The visitors experienced an evening full of musical highlights that will certainly be remembered for a long time. Such commitment from musicians and organizers is highly valued in the region.
