The "Greif" has an impressive curriculum vitae. The ship was christened on September 14, 1960 under the name "Always ready" and then came fresh from the VEB Yachtwerft Berlin-Köpenick. The youth sailing yacht has been operated by the BSJ e.V. Marburg association since 1993 and has been called "Greif of Ueckermünde" since then. As the city of Ueckermünde explains on its website, the "Greif" was originally designed for day trips with school classes and has been taking it to an impressive time of around 170 days a year, when it drives the coasts of Haff, Eightwater and even the Polish coast.

The yacht not only carried out countless sailing courses, but also participated in numerous regattas and events, including the legendary Hanse-Sail in Rostock. With its new Yanmar MarineDiesel, which was installed in 2008, and the modern conversions that have been carried out in recent years, the "griffin" is well equipped for the challenges of sailing.
