Wolgast Zoo will remain closed until the end of November – what’s behind it!
There is important news for animal lovers and nature enthusiasts in the Vorpommern-Greifswald district: The Animal park in Wolgast remains closed until November 28th. The reason for this is extensive foliage and tree care work, which is essential at this time of year. Zoo manager Mirko Daus emphasizes that the zoo's forest location results in large amounts of falling leaves, which now have to be properly cleared away.
“We do this so that the animals feel comfortable in the best environment,” says Daus. Despite the closure until the end of November, a stable number of visitors of around 50,000 is forecast by the end of the year. However, there is a downside: rising operating costs are causing deficits that need to be urgently addressed. From November 29th, visitors can once again experience the park's impressive wildlife.
The luck of the wolves
A special highlight in the zoo are the three little wolf cubs. We are still looking for suitable names for these lively fellows. Zoo visitors are invited to submit their suggestions so that the young wolves can find their identity. This not only ensures joy for the little visitors, but also a stronger connection to the animal world.
In terms of nature conservation, the upcoming work will not only make the zoo more beautiful but also more functional. The maintenance of the facilities is crucial to ensuring a safe and attractive environment for the animals and guests in the long term. By its nature, care is time-consuming, but the results will be impressive.
Anyone who stops by after November 28th can not only admire the little wolf cubs, but also experience nature in all its glory. The zoo's commitment to the environment and the employees' love of animals create a unique experience for the region. So anticipation is the order of the day!
