Finally: Green light for Dargun! New transport projects start now!

There is a reason to be happy in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: the Dargun bypass receives the green light! On December 4, 2025, Federal Transport Minister Patrick Schnieder granted construction approval for a total of 16 federal highway and 7 new motorway construction projects throughout Germany. This not only improves the local road network, but also significantly improves the safety and quality of life of residents in Dargun. This decision is the result of the coalition committee's most recent decisions, which were made in October. A further three billion euros were made available from the infrastructure and climate protection special fund for the years 2026 to 2029 to maintain and expand bridges and tunnels in the federal highway network.

But what does that actually mean for the local people? The release of construction freedoms enables the state authorities and the federal Autobahn GmbH to prepare the necessary tenders and begin construction work soon. In total, the federal government plans to invest around 710 million euros in federal highway projects and around 3.6 billion euros in motorway projects - these are huge sums that will flow into the transport infrastructure, which handles over half of the road traffic in Germany. This not only makes traffic smoother, but also safer.

Ongoing projects throughout Germany

But Dargun is not the only project to benefit from these construction clearances. Numerous new construction projects are pending throughout Germany, including:

  • Baden-Württemberg: A 8 – AS Mühlhausen – Hohenstadt
  • Bayern: B 11, B 25, B 173, B 299, B 303, A 3
  • Brandenburg: B 112
  • Hessen: B 44, B 49, B 275
  • Niedersachsen: A 20
  • Nordrhein-Westfalen: B 64, B 83, A 43, A 57
  • Rheinland-Pfalz: B 50, A 1
  • Sachsen: B 169
  • Sachsen-Anhalt: B 188
  • Schleswig-Holstein: A 20
  • Thüringen: B 4

Patrick Schnieder emphasizes the need to expand and maintain the federal highway network. This is crucial in order to ensure the mobility of citizens in the future. In this context, the record investments totaling 169 billion euros in transport projects by 2029 are a strong sign that the federal government is committed to improving the transport infrastructure in order to meet the needs of the population and the economy.

Overall, today shows that transport policy in Germany is on the right track, with clear goals and clear financial support for necessary measures. The people of Dargun and beyond can look forward to the positive changes that the new transport projects will bring. The work on the bypass is just the beginning of a comprehensive improvement of the region's infrastructure.
