Bicycle adventure: 140 young people discover Friesland!

This summer, young people can look forward to a very special adventure: the traditional Friesland tour of the Protestant children's and youth organization, which has been taking place annually in the fifth week of the holidays for more than 30 years. From theJune 30 to July 7, 2025Up to 140 children and young people aged 10 to 18 are invited to explore the picturesque landscape of Friesland by bike. The aim of the tour is to offer young people a week full of exercise, encounters and community as they cycle through the beautiful nature and experience camping, sailing on a sailing ship and numerous other exciting activities.

As nordkurier.de reports, the tour is organized in small groups, with each group consisting of around ten children and accompanied by two experienced group leaders. The routes are age-appropriate and ensure that young people experience both challenges and a lot of fun. To ensure that everything runs smoothly, there is a central office that is available to help with problems, such as breakdowns. The supervisors on this tour also take part in special weekend seminars in order to be optimally prepared.

An unforgettable experience

Participants will have the opportunity to travel from campsite to campsite in a county system. On one of the days, the groups enjoy a day trip on a traditional sailing ship on the IJsselmeer, where two crews take turns taking the young people. Paula Danielsen from Crivitz, who took part in this tour herself, describes her formative experiences and fondly remembers the good times. “It's more than just a trip, it's an experience of a lifetime,” says Paula.

Registration for this year's tour is still possible via the Protestant Children's and Youth Work's website at www.ejm-wismar.de. Interested parties should not hesitate too long, as the places are in great demand.

A comprehensive offer for young people

In the period fromAugust 14th to 23rd, 2024The event “Being out and about in Friesland” will also take place. 200 participants aged 10 to 17 have already registered here. Organized by the Mecklenburg Evangelical Children and Youth Organization in the Wismar provost, each child will cover daily stages of 15 to 35 kilometers. In addition to games and creativity, there is also the opportunity to bathe and cook. Great importance is attached to a joint celebration at the end.

The pricing is family-friendly: the participation fee is 260 euros, siblings are charged 450 euros, while for a fifth participation the amount is only 199 euros. If necessary, discounts and sponsorships are also available so that everyone has the chance to take part in this important event. Further information is also available on the ev. Children's and Youth Organization.

Behind all of these initiatives is the Christian Association of Young People (YMCA), which with its around 310,000 members and a large number of local groups plays an important role in youth development. The CVJM is not only Germany's largest Christian-ecumenical youth association, but also a place where cohesion and community are very important. With its diverse offerings, the association reaches almost a million young people every year and thus supports the development and cooperation among young people in Germany and beyond. Further information about the work of the CVJM can be found on the [CVJM] website (https://www.cvjm-reisen.de/website/de/ueber_den_cvjm).
