New bike path on the B321: soon safe path for cyclists!
Bergrade, Deutschland - users of the B321 between Schwerin and Parchim are allowed to breathe a sigh of relief. The construction of the bike path between Domsühl and Neuhof is about to complete. The Schwerin road construction office has now almost completed the work on this important section. In the first phase, the construction phase from Domsühl to the entrance to the town was successfully implemented. The second section, which started in September 2024, runs from the town of Bergrade to Neuhof and includes a distance of about 2.6 kilometers.
The cycle path runs east of the B321 and is created in the location as a combined walking and bike path in pavement construction. New street processes are planned for drainage, and the bus stops are also designed to be barrier -free. Outside the town, an asphalt surface ensures a pleasant driving experience. It should be emphasized that the bike path in the forest area lies in the fire protection strip and runs behind a row of trees in the field. These plans are part of a comprehensive approach to improve the cycling infrastructure in the region.
The construction work was started in September 2024 with the pruning of hedges and bushes to make room for the new bike path. During the entire construction phase, temporary restrictions on the B321, which were caused by construction site and agricultural access. Therefore, a speed limit of 30 km/h and 50 km/h was based both in urban and outside of closed towns. Another interesting point: Part of the cemetery area was re -rededicated to the path area, but this did not require any resolution of graves. The cemetery was separated from the new path by a wall from small field stones in order to maintain the necessary privacy.
construction work in Crivitz
Another project to improve the cycling infrastructure was nearby, where since March 6, 2023, a bike path between the former Hotel Waldschlösschen and the existing bike path has been working on the Crivitz bypass. This construction measure comprises a length of approx. 2.7 kilometers. The theses are planned for June 2023 and also include the barrier -free expansion of four existing bus stops. Temporary traffic restrictions could also occur here, especially since the bike path currently runs close to the road.
The development of these infrastructure projects falls at a time when Germany is actively working to become an attractive bicycle country. The Federal Government's national bicycle traffic plan outlines a clear vision for 2030, which should not only benefit transport policy, but also the climate and health of the citizens. A new study shows that the proportion of bicycle in traffic is often underestimated in holistic planning. The results indicate that the safety and quality of the cycle paths are crucial in order to fully exploit the potential of the use of wheel. A decisive component is the improvement of the infrastructure and networking with public transport.
The ongoing projects in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania are therefore not only important steps to improve mobility, but also a contribution to the overarching goals of climate protection measures and promotion of cycling. Ultimately, everyone benefits from a well -developed network of cycle paths that are attractive for both daily commuters and for recreational cyclists.
