New mobility app MV drives well” revolutionizes local transport in Ludwigslust!

Since December 1, 2025, passengers in the Ludwigslust-Parchim district have been able to use the new “MV rides well” app to make their travel on local public transport more comfortable. In the app, which was recently published, users have the opportunity to view timetables and book tickets for the Ludwigslust-Parchim (VLP) transport company. This represents a significant step in the digital transformation of local transport in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, as NDR reports.

The managing director of the VLP, Stefan Lösel, emphasizes the importance of this app for access to local public transport. The combination of timetable information and ticket booking should help attract more passengers. District Administrator Stefan Sternberg (SPD) sees this development as a clear benefit for the region. In addition, the combination of timetables and ticket purchasing is seen as a key to increasing the attractiveness of local public transport. The connections of the Nahbus company in northwest Mecklenburg are now integrated into the app - a step that should not only benefit the users, but also regional transport.

Promoting and expanding the digital infrastructure

The state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is investing in digital infrastructure and supporting the expansion of local transport offerings with over 3.5 million euros in funding this year. These financial resources are part of a comprehensive plan to improve mobility in the region and bring it up to standards similar to those in major cities such as Hamburg and Berlin, as Government M-V explains.

Ines Jesse, State Secretary for Transport, highlights the progress in mobility since 2023 and advocates for a centralized information and booking platform. The app is seen as “another step towards digitalization”. In addition, the functionality of the app will be expanded in the future so that important tickets can be booked nationwide via the platform.

A step into the future

With the introduction of the “MV rides well” app, individual tickets for Schwerin local transport (NVS) can now also be purchased via the app since February 2025. The technical implementation of these functions was taken over by VMV – Verkehrsgesellschaft Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. The app is available free of charge for Android and iOS. This provides passengers with a user-friendly and additional digital offering to make using public transport easier and more flexible.

The ability to purchase VLP tickets via the app is part of the digitization of the tariff and distribution systems within the state. The integration is intended to ensure that the existing “patchwork of apps” is dismantled. This is a necessary step to make local public transport easier and more accessible overall, while at the same time the on-call bus in the district is gaining additional popularity through projects such as the Deutschlandticket.

Using the new “MV drives well” app could not only make everyday life easier for passengers, but also contribute to more environmentally friendly local transport. The use of 47 electric buses in the VLP area, which will save around 1,500 tons of CO₂ in 2024, already shows that the region is well on the way to setting new standards in terms of sustainability and modern mobility Nordkurier notes.
