Anniversary of the Burow-Gischow fire brigade: 100 years full of zest for action!
The Burow-Gischow volunteer fire brigade can look back proudly on its 100th birthday. On the occasion of this jubilant event, the meeting of the fire brigades of the Eldenburg Lübz office in Burow was held on June 15, 2025. This day was not only a reason to celebrate, but also a platform for exciting competitions in which numerous fire brigades and youth teams took part. According to Nordkurier from a total of 13 fire brigades, there were also a guest team from Parchim.
A special highlight was the competition, in which twelve teams from eight youth fire brigades took part. The competition included a relay race over 200 meters, which was peppered with various obstacles. District military leader Danilo Urbutat expressed a positive statement about the high number of participants and the commitment of the youth fire brigades, which demonstrated their skills with a lot of zeal and skill.

The best results reached the youngsters of the Ruhner Mountains. They were closely followed by the teams from Kreien and Lübz, who also performed excellently. In the older competitions, the adults were able to compete against each other in the disciplines in the disciplines of knots and stings, suction length dome and extinguishing attack.
The guests from Parchim demonstrated their skills and won the extinguishing attack wet with a remarkable time of 27.11 seconds. Gischow landed in second place with 27.84 seconds and Werder secured third place with 29.51 seconds. In the overall ranking, the fire brigade prevailed from Werder and took first place, followed by Burow-Gischow and the second team from Lübz. The highlight of the day was the thank -you speech, in which the participants, especially the youth fire brigade and the supervisors, were honored for organization and implementation.
The role of the youth fire brigade
The youth fire brigade represents a decisive part of the volunteer fire brigade. According to age groups, the training is divided into different parts, and the participants may not be used in the danger area of missions up to a certain age.
