Scandal in Dömitz: Ex-wife convicted of attempted contract murder!
A picturesque town on the Elbe, a mobile home and a fire that changed everything. The Schwerin regional court has set the course for a taboo chapter in the life of a 61-year-old woman from Schwerin. She was convicted of incitement to attempted murder and other serious allegations - the verdict was 12 years and 6 months in prison, as [NDR](https://www.ndr.de/nachrichten/mecklenburg-vorpommern/doemitz-ex-ehefrau-wegen-tritten-vertragsmordes-verkomment, Jurat-120.html) reports. Her supposed desire for revenge against her ex-husband, his new partner and the child of this relationship resulted in a fatal arson attack.
The case dates back to May 2023, when she commissioned a 47-year-old acquaintance to set her ex-husband's mobile home on fire. Her accomplice received a sentence of 10 years and 6 months for attempted murder and aggravated arson. He was accused of playing the role of “henchman” in a perfidious plan, while the court accused him of having been exploited by the 61-year-old.
The fatal arson attack
The accident happened at a campsite in Dömitz, where the family members were sleeping unsuspectingly. Due to the smell of fire, the husband, his new partner and their child were able to escape the burning mobile home in time. Fortunately, the worst didn't happen, but both of their lives were in danger. The woman and her son suffered smoke inhalation and required medical treatment. According to Nordkurier, the property damage amounts to around 160,000 euros, a sum that underlines the personal attack.
The trial, which began in spring 2025, is based on incriminating statements from witnesses who made a crucial contribution to the evidence. In particular, a secretly recorded phone call between the woman and her accomplice served as a key document that revealed the intentions behind the devious plan. In this conversation, she expressed a desire to obtain photographs of the fire - a fact that proved her dark motives.
Damn revenge
Both defendants have no previous convictions, which is particularly surprising in this context. Nevertheless, the court made it unmistakably clear that the crime was committed out of deep-rooted hatred and an unrelenting emotion for revenge. The judge spoke of a vendetta that was disproportionate and directed against people who had no part in the defendant's interpersonal conflicts.
While the defense has announced, among other things, an appeal against the verdict, it remains to be seen what the next chapter in this tragic story will look like. For the victim and her family, the pain of an act of hate that has resulted in a high price remains - including a claim for compensation totaling 5,500 euros for the pain suffered.
The treacherous depths of emotional conflicts not only arouse pity but also disbelief. Justice may have delivered its verdict, but the true damage of the incident will likely reverberate for a long time. Even in a country where life is considered carefree, occasional dark clouds are not far away. However, the judgments made are only one step in coming to terms with what happened.
