PUR emotions: Gadebusch is thrilled 250 athletes!

Gadebusch, Deutschland - On July 13, 2025, Gadebusch was the scene of a special event: The removal of the memory in honor of Karl-August Baum took place for the first time and attracted around 250 participants. This great response touched the daughter of Karl-August, Jana Müller-Schmidt, who was visibly emotionally overwhelmed by the community campaign. The removal of the memory consisted of various competitions that spoke to both young and experienced athletes. In the child run over 1000 meters, Oskar Herzog was able to reach first place, followed by Jo Oldendorf and Hugo Maas. Paula Frederike Böttcher won the five -kilometer long run for the older participants, while Gordon Bachmann took second place. Particularly noteworthy is the ten kilometer run, in which 16-year-old Michel Sltan crossed the finish line in impressive 39:59 minutes. Christian Beymach and Karsten Pohl completed the podium.

The successful organization of the event was not only valued by the participants, but also by former athletes. Siegfried Stark, a former decathlete, praised the implementation and commitment of the organizers. Among them was also Wolfgang Gradtke, a 72-year-old participant who was at the start with his 36-year-old son Silvio, which underlined the family coexistence during the run.

But the run not only had sporting aspects. The event was organized by the children's sports group "Small Bandits", and all income flowed into a children's project by the city of Gadebusch. This not only makes the event a sporting, but also a social event. Registration for future runs is possible by email, whereby the registration fees were kept very moderate: 5 euros for participants up to 12 years and 15 euros for young people and adults.

It is clear that the removal of the memory in honor of Karl-August Baum in Gadebusch was a great success and aroused a lot of emotions. Norman Buchfink, one of the organizers, has already announced a new edition in the coming year. An event that should be at the top of the region's calendar and shows a good hand for the future.
