funding for numerous projects

leader is an EU program that is funded by the European Agricultural Fund for the development of rural areas (ELER). It aims to improve the quality of life in rural areas and to secure the future viability of villages. Citizens on site are actively involved in project development. Funding projects range from infrastructure to social and cultural initiatives to tourist measures; In this way, the funding amounts can go to the six -digit range. There are particularly positive feedback for the projects already funded in Northwest Mecklenburg, which have been helping to implement over 400 projects for 30 years. These include the skater system in Groß Molzahn and the redesign of the center of the village in Pokrent.

In order to benefit from the funding, the projects must fit the local development strategies that cover topics such as general interest, environmental and climate protection, economy and leisure. Not only private individuals, but also associations, initiatives as well as companies and municipalities are eligible to apply. The first step towards funding is to check whether the project location is in a leader region. This is followed by contacting regional management and submitting the application to the local action group (LAG). This ultimately decides on funding.

The support in detail

The LEADER program not only promotes larger projects, but also small projects. Here you can call up up to 20,000 euros for measures such as infrastructure projects or workshops. This is supported by shorter application deadlines. Citizens can benefit from the various options, under the motto: "We tackle together!" Interruption of funding emphasizes that the involvement of local citizens is essential to jointly develop solutions for the challenges of the region.

At the federal level there are 372 LEADER regions, and with around 14 percent of the ELER funds, LEADER in Germany is an important part of the funding. The region has the option of developing creative solutions that are also tailored to the specific regional environment. BMEL reports that the local action groups have the needs of the citizens in focus and that they develop concepts for the development of the region.

If you also have an idea for a project that could give our region new swing, then take the last chance to apply. Take the phone or write an email to secure your possibility to promote. The countdown is running!
