In a festive ceremony in Schönberg, which took place on August 30, 2025, more than 200 fire brigade personnel took part to celebrate the handover of a new flag for the Northwest Mecklenburg District Fire Brigade Association. This tradition is an important part of the fire service in Germany, which is strongly rooted in the community. As the Northern Courier reported, the outgoing district military leader Heinz Hinzmann thanked him for the trust after six years in office and handed over leadership to Arne Bork, the local military leader from Lützow-Lübstorf.

The new flag, which shows the logo of the district fire brigade association and the colors of the district of Northwest Mecklenburg, was presented by 21-year-old Lyke Engbertz. She has been active in the Klütz Fire Department for eleven years and conducted two dress rehearsals before the ceremony to ensure a flawless presentation.

The route of around seven kilometers included seven stations and represented a sporting challenge.
