The Bartholomaii Church in Demmin was again the setting for a remarkable concert on Friday evening. Over 520 visitors experienced an unforgettable evening with the Dresdner Kreuzchor , who captivated the audience with a mixture of sacred songs and German sectors. The choir, which is one of the oldest boys' choirs in Europe, has a tradition that goes back at least 700 years and is valued by many as an indispensable cultural asset. The Dresden Kreuzchor is based in the artistic home, the Kreuzkirche in Dresden, and is worn by the city of Dresden. With currently 123 active members, the so -called cruisers, the choir is divided into all four vocalists and offers high artistic quality, which is based on daily rehearsal work and intensive singing lessons. This mixture ensures that the choir gives over 100 concerts every year and a remarkable range of musical pieces, from early baroque works to modern music.

Last month the cross choir also appeared in the sold -out Schwerin Cathedral and impressed the audience with its unique repertoire. Also at the open-air appearance in the Chorin monastery, 69 singers aged 10 to 18 were there, which showed impressively how young and dynamic this traditional choir is. Often, the crucifiers carry out services in the Kreuzkirche on special occasions such as Christmas or Easter and thus achieve large numbers of spectators.

The visitors not only came from the surrounding area, but also from cities such as Teterow, Malchin and Neubrandenburg. Above all, the mix of contact with traditional music and reflection on folk songs appeals to many people. With a repertoire that includes everything from Vespern to spectacular guest appearances worldwide, the cross choir shows that it remains alive and relevant today.
