In Demmin, in the quiet district of Mecklenburg Seenplatte, a very special anniversary was recently celebrated: The AWO nursing home in Beethovenstrasse celebrated its 20th anniversary with a festival week that reflected a lot of heart and commitment. The groundbreaking took place on March 2, 2005, and only nine months later, in December of the same year, the first residents of Vierow moved into the new facility. Today the home offers 60 inpatient care places, housed in four cozy living groups, each of which is a kitchen and a friendly atmosphere radiation.
Every living group houses 15 residents who split into 11 single and 2 double rooms. These are bright and invitingly designed, the backrests of the furniture are carefully tailored to the needs of the seniors. Fully furnished, with a telephone and television connection and an emergency call, the residents can also bring their own furniture to create a piece of home. In addition, there are 21 barrier -free two -room apartments for assisted living where older people can live in a safe environment.

The festival week included numerous events that made both the current residents and the guests. The highlight was a concert by the State Police Orchestra Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, which provided joyful moments and musical experiences. The head of the senior service house, Anne Kirsch, emphasized the importance of such events for the quality of life of the seniors. These are supported by the committed team of 54 employees who ensure individual, activating care.
Regular offers, such as coffee afternoons, summer festivals and Christmas parties, create a family atmosphere in the house. The festivities also included a special health day with various offers, including massage, vein measurements and body analyzes. Activities such as chair yoga and wheelchair dance under the motto "Take part, do it, do it better" invited the residents for active participation.
