Hans-Fallada days: Celebrations for the 132nd birthday in Carwitz!

Carwitz, Deutschland - In Carwitz something is happening! From July 18 to 2025, the 34th Hans Fallada days celebrate their return to the barns of the museum of the same name. Under the motto "Bühne Frei Fallada", visitors can expect an exciting program with readings, book presentations, a puppet theater and a literary-musical garden tour.

The opening takes place on July 18 at 4 p.m. by Michael Töteberg, the chairman of the Hans Fallada Society. The highlight of the first day is the presentation of a special exhibition with Fallada theater posters. Also a lecture by Dr. Hannes Gürgen will captivate the audience. According to a comprehensive program, guests can look forward to a reading by Michael Kleeberg from his "Karlmann trilogy" in the evening. Entry for this special evening is 16 euros, reduced 14 euros.

The second day of the Fallada days is all about children. At 3 p.m. the puppet theater "Manuart" with Falk Ulke brings the piece "Mäusken Waggelohr" to the stage, which is free for the little guests - donations are of course welcome!

In the evening there is a reading with Helga Schubert, which appears with musical accompaniment by Niels Badenhop. If you still feel like cinema afterwards, you can go to the film screening "Kuhle Wampe or: Who owns the world?" be happy. This event is also offered at a fair price.

Various events take place on Sunday at the crowning glory of these literary festivals, including the honor of Hans Fallada at his grave. The literary-musical garden tour at 4 p.m. with Stefan Knüppel, Carina Wiese and Harfenist Niels Badenhop will also be a highlight. During the entire events, the catering service is provided by the "Seenfischerei Feldberg & Fischladen Oliver Pahlke".

The Hans Fallada Society and the Literature Center Neubrandenburg organize the ceremony in cooperation with the Mecklenburg Foundation. The events can be attended without a ticket reservation; Nevertheless, it is recommended to acquire a combination card that enables access to all events. Some program items take place outdoors, which is why spontaneous visits are desired.

The Hans Fallada Museum in Carwitz, which is reminiscent of the life and work of the well-known writer, is one of the most important cultural places in the region and is very important in the Federal Republic. Fallada, bourgeois Rudolf Ditzen, lived in Carwitz in the 1920s and 30s and created some of his most important works there, including "Little Man now?".
