Art for a good cause: Auction against cancer in the Malchin town hall!
The anticipation for the town festival in Malchin is increasing, because on Friday, June 27th, the time has finally come: at 6 p.m. the gavel will fall in the town hall in favor of the German Cancer Aid. Celine Schmidt, who organizes the art auction, has already been able to acquire numerous donations from all over Germany. The event promises not only a colorful variety of works of art, but also the opportunity to do good and support artistic talent.
A total of 30 works by artists from cities such as Berlin, Hamburg and Malchin will be presented. The palette ranges from painting to woodwork to photography and pottery, with styles ranging from abstract to graffiti represented. A highlight will be the graffiti artist "Mr. Tekso", who will create a live artwork in front of the town hall on the afternoon before the auction, which will also be auctioned off.
Art for a good cause
Celine Schmidt, who is a cancer patient herself, is particularly motivated to launch this campaign. “I want to give something back,” she explains, because she has experienced the support of the German Cancer Aid herself and knows how important such offers of help are. The entire proceeds from the auction will go to the work of the cancer charity, which was able to support a total of 177 projects in 2023. These include, among other things, the fight against childhood cancer as well as financial and psychological support for those affected and their relatives. The funds raised will also be used for innovative research approaches aimed at improving patients' quality of life and minimizing side effects of treatments. The message is clear: art can save lives!
Michael Großmann will moderate the event and invites everyone present to chat after the auction. Interesting information and information material about German Cancer Aid is provided. In addition, local shops are making their contribution to the success of the auction: The flower shop at Steintor donates 20 sunflowers, and a toy shop on Schweriner Straße provides a bottle of helium for balloons.
A sustainable initiative
The organizer aims to hold the auction regularly in Malchin, and other artists have already expressed interest in starting similar campaigns in their places of residence. This shows how strong the cohesion in the community is and how much the creative exchange is supported in favor of an important topic. Anyone who appreciates art and wants to do something good at the same time should not miss this event.
The art auction in Malchin is not just an event where works of art change, but at the same time one of the many beautiful initiatives to draw attention to the constant need for support in cancer research. Each of us can contribute to improving the lives of those affected.
For everyone who is interested in the auction and of course for all art lovers, there is more information on the website of Nordkurier, [DKFZ].
