Malchin celebrates the city festival: Choir Viva La Musica receives honorary letter!

Last weekend, everything was about the city festival in Malchin, which came up with a very special highlight this year: the choir "Viva La Musica" was awarded the city's honorary letter. This prize, which is awarded by the home club and the city, recognizes the voluntary commitment of the choir, which has made a name for over 40 years. "Viva La Musica" was founded in 1985 by music school teacher Karin Knöfel and initially appeared mainly in the "Filmbühne" Malchin. The founding members Rosa and Gerhard Hampel, Jutta Wascher and Monika Swienty are still active in the choir. The association has completed numerous appearances in the region over the years and in cities such as Hamburg, Itzehoe and Vienna. In 1994 the choir was officially registered as an association and is currently looking for new, singing -loving members, especially male voices to further expand its repertoire, which ranges from folk songs to musicals and gospel.

The city festival ended with an anniversary concert by the choir on Sunday evening, which took place in the St. Johanniskirche. The parade, another highlight of the city festival, caused a lot of enthusiasm. Mayor Axel Müller (CDU) praised the great response and reported: "It was as if half of the city were on his feet." The prices for the most creative moving car went to the karate dojo, the Pestalozzi primary school, the Johannes kindergarten and to the chimney sweep Philipp Niendorf.

The association has continued to develop and participated in various performance competitions. The choir is currently being managed by music teacher Milan Labatzki, who actively supports his work. The enthusiasm that the choir can cause is also evident in the loyalty of many members and the good response of the audience.
