New youth club in Malchow: A place for leisure and community!

In Malchow there has recently been a new meeting point for the youth. On June 23, 2025, the ceremonial handover of the outdoor youth club between the Fleesenseeschule and the ice rink took place. Ann Kollhoff, the chair of the children's and youth parliament, emphasized how important this place is for the community. "Here we want to create a space where the young people meet and realize their ideas," she said when the handover. The square is equipped with several sports equipment and a basketball court, which makes it a magnet for young people.

The idea for a youth club goes back to 2017 when committed young people joined together and a youth body founded. This committee continued to develop and finally became a youth parliament. It was clear from the start that a central meeting point should play a crucial role in the commitment of young people in order to create a room for their activities.

Together for the youth

Mayor René Putzar paid tribute to the long process that led to the emergence of the meeting point. "It was a learning process for everyone involved. The young people used their voice and clearly expressed their wishes," said Putzar. The project was supported by various players, including the city administration, the planning office Strauch and the Lions Club Müritz. The original budget of 60,000 euros increased to 150,000 euros when additional ideas and funding from the federal and state governments were brought in.

Malchow has established itself as a model community for youth participation. The decision to found the children's and youth parliament was made at the end of 2016. In workshops, the formation of form and the creation of a rules of procedure was worked on. The aim of this initiative is to build a long -term democratic participation structure and to actively promote the interests of young people, which is evident in a number of successful projects.

strong voices for a better future

In this context, the Federal Ministry of Youth, with the National Action Plan for Children's and Youth participation, shows how important the voice of the youth is. Young people should be actively involved in decision -making processes. The dialogue process, which lasts until 2025, creates the possibility that the young people will be perceived as experts. Recommendations for implementation are also formulated here, such as legally clear rules for participation or access to information about participation options.

The committed young people in Malchow are not alone, they contribute to networking with other youth parliaments in the region. Whether with the exchange of experiences or participation in events such as the networking meeting in Teterow, you have built up a strong network. In addition, public relations work is underway that effectively uses the new logo of the children's and youth parliament.

The tasks are diverse: from the desire for continuous extracurricular care to the commitment to the design of a new youth meeting point. They not only want to represent their own concerns, but also strengthen the voice of all young people in their community. The future looks promising, and the boys in Malchow have shown that they have a good knack for their own concerns.

The new youth club in Malchow is not only a place to linger, but also a symbol of the power of participation and the potential that is in the ideas of young people. Likewise, initiatives such as "M-V is good" and the youth policy days the commitment of young people are becoming increasingly visible.

For the further development of young participation in the region, it can be hoped that the initiatives will continue and further projects will be launched. The commitment to young people is strong and they have the potential to bring about a comprehensive change.

Nordkurier reports that young people have asked for a meeting point in 2017 and that the commitment has grown steadily since then. Malchow has invested a lot in the youth and is therefore a model for other communities. The commitment is also supported by Kinderrechte.de , which promotes long-term democratic structures. The National Action Plan offers additional framework for a stronger integration of young people into society.
