The tractors' last candlelight ride: A brilliant farewell in Neustrelitz!
The festive anticipation of Christmas is in the air, and in Neustrelitz there is a very special reason to mark December 20th in your calendar. The traditional candlelight ride of vintage tractors will take place for the last time this year. The tractor convoy, which starts at 4:15 p.m. on Wilhelm-Stolte-Straße, promises a lively spectacle for young and old. On the Schlossberg, the magical atmosphere is crowned by a music-synchronized fireworks display provided by “Strelitz Pyro”. But that's not all the event has to offer.
Again Northern Courier reported, the light journey begins with an opening speech by Mayor Max Odebrecht. The surroundings of the Schlossberg will then be illuminated in color and accompanied by music from the group “Klangkultur MV”. The event, which lasts around two and a half hours, promises not only a wonderful light show, but also the distribution of 400 glowing hearts to visitors. Another attraction will be the use of aerial platforms with which guests can marvel at the impressive light show from a bird's eye view.
An emotional farewell
After six years, this special tradition is now coming to an end as the vintage tractors are to be sold. The value of these estimated vehicles is between 5,000 and 20,000 euros, depending on the model. Despite the farewell, aviation lovers can look forward to the impressive production: in a final magical twist, the tractors will disappear in a wall of smoke at the finale.
This year the number of participants has increased from 14 to 23 tractors, all of which are lovingly decorated and illuminated. The drivers have already started preparing three weeks before the event and are letting their creativity run wild. This year, instead of tinsel, decorative elements such as the Neustrelitz market crown and deer on the roofs of the tractors are being used - a homage to the region and its traditions.
Special features of the light journey
The light journey is not only an eye-catcher at Christmas time, but also a matter of the heart. The voluntary organization by Andreas Siebeck and his team shows how much commitment goes into this event. This year Andreas Siebeck will be taking part dressed as Santa Claus - a funny touch that will add extra cheer to the event.
An impressive light journey will also take place in a neighboring region. How SHG Current reports, farmers from Rinteln are organizing a similar event with the motto “A Spark of Hope”. This light trip aims to raise donations for Lebenshilfe Rinteln and the association “Together against Blood Cancer e.V.” to collect. 50 participants from the district have already registered, and the tractor convoy is expected to exceed last year's size.
The festivities in both regions impressively show how traditional events not only bring joy, but also pursue meaningful goals. The light trips invite you to enjoy the winter atmosphere together and do good. So if you have time in Neustrelitz on December 20th or in Rinteln on December 17th, you shouldn't miss the opportunity!
